Beginners videos - the basics

Pickleball is a fun and exciting game, though the strategies and tactics can be quite different to other racket sports. Here are a few videos that you might find helpful to get you started and improve your game.

Traditional Pickleball Scoring

In traditional scoring, you can only score a point from winning a rally WHEN YOU SERVE. (Unlike rally scoring, when you score on each rally.)

• The person on the right of the court always serves first.
• Both players on a team get to serve before the other team gets a chance.
• The first player continues to serve until their team loses a rally, then the second player serves. Each time a point is won, the serving team swaps sides (between left and right).
• ONLY AT THE START OF THE MATCH - The starting team only has 1 player that serves (starting from the right), so that the starting team doesn't have the advantage of TWO players serving before the other team gets a chance to win points.

Play is to 11. You can optionally play two clear points - the number of points you play to, and whether to play two clear points, varies at different clubs/tournaments, or even varies in different rounds at the same tournament.
