Members Terms and Conditions

By applying for membership, I agree to the terms and conditions laid out in the following (found below):

Furthermore, I understand that by applying for membership, I commit to paying the yearly membership fee and any session fees that are due as a result of booking club sessions, once my membership has been approved.

BOOKING AND PAYING FOR CHORLTON PICKLEBALL LTD CLUB SESSIONS

The club initially took payments at the start of each session, however, as the number of attendees grew, this started to impact on play at the start of a session. A “pay when you book” system was therefore introduced, which increases administration time prior to the session, but ensures more “play time” for participants. This system puts the onus on attendees to pay for sessions at the time of booking/accepting the invite. The process is as follows;

  1. PROVISIONALLY book a session by clicking "Accept" on the SPOND invite.
  2. CONFIRM your booking by paying immediately, using the link in the invite. Please note, if there is a delay in payment, Chorlton Pickleball Ltd reserves the right to change your response to "decline". This will be done if there are people waiting on the reserve list, but may be done at other times when spot checks on payments are carried out. Any effected member will be responsible for clicking "Accept" again and paying immediately (unless they have become a reserve for the session).
  3. DO NOT pay if you accept a session invite but are a reserve. If a place becomes available, you are responsible for promptly accepting the place and paying, or promptly declining if you are no longer available, so the place can be offered to the next reserve.
  4. Notify Chorlton Pickleball Ltd through a message or email, if, after payment, you need to decline your place. If this is greater than 24 hours before the start of the session, you will be refunded, minus the transaction fee incurred by the club (currently £0.30 on a £4.00 booking). If it is 24 hours or less before the start of the session, there will be no refund.

Delays in payment for sessions impact disproportionately on administration time. Chorlton Pickleball Ltd reserve the right to issue a warning to individuals who repeatedly delay their payments for sessions. Additional incidents may ultimately result in an individual’s membership/invites to sessions being suspended or withdrawn.

This process seeks to be fair to all members who want to book, pay and enjoy playing this fabulous game!

CHORLTON PICKLEBALL LTD CODE OF CONDUCT AND COURT ETIQUETTE

As a member of Chorlton Pickleball, all players agree to conduct themselves in a courteous and respectful manner both on the courts and when observing others playing while awaiting your turn. All participants are reminded the goal is to provide an environment where all players can play the game to the best of their ability and most importantly “have fun” while doing so. This code is to apply to any Chorlton Pickleball Ltd organised or sponsored pickleball event.

All members/attendees at events shall;

Our goal is to promote the growth and development of pickleball. This sport will succeed best if its players embrace the values of good sportsmanship. It is essential that all players and spectators, in promoting this goal, model good behavior, lead by example, display respect, and show self-control.

The Code below applies in all situations that relate directly or indirectly to pickleball play.

Every person involved in Chorlton Pickleball Ltd (participant, official, volunteer, or spectator) pledges as follows:

Chorlton Pickleball Ltd would like to work with all members to make sure this is a safe, fun place for participants to play. Failure to abide by this Code may result in disciplinary action having to be taken by Chorlton Pickleball Ltd, which may ultimately lead to membership being withdrawn.

Court Etiquette

Everyone was (or is) a beginner at one time and playing with people that are better than you or that are just learning will help all players, at all skill levels and keep the sport of Pickleball growing. Everyone appreciates the time given to “assist” all levels of players with rules, set up, specific plays etc. If you are an “advanced” player, adjust your style when playing with beginners – work on your short game, work on ball placement. Mentor and offer advice kindly. Do not intimidate weaker players or dominate a game. Play to have fun.

As the club progresses, we may reserve some courts for advanced players. If so, the cut off rating for these courts will be set and all members will be informed. In this instance we would ask that lower rated players kindly remain on the other courts assigned for recreational play.

Once you have completed a game, losers of the match must vacate the court. Winners may stay on the court for a maximum of 2 games. After 2 games, they must leave the court to allow for players who have been waiting to play.

Be cognitive of other courts. Give those courts lots of room to continue their match. You will avoid possible injury to yourself and to the players that might not see you near their court. If you bring a guest that has not played pickleball – stay with your guest/friend for a good part of the session. Introduce your guest to other players.

Recognize and compliment your partner and opponents when they make good shots.

Apologize for bad or inappropriate remarks immediately.

Call out the score every time you serve so that your opponents can hear the score. Call out your score first, then the opponents score.

Do not chase the ball into another court. Call “ball” immediately when your stray ball rolls onto another court. No point is worth tripping over a ball and hurting yourself or other players. When retrieving a stray ball it is best not to walk onto a neighbouring court – wait until the rally is over. When a ball rolls onto your court, stop play immediately. Pick the ball up, look to see where it came from and return it as suggested above. Make eye contact with the person that you are returning the ball to, then roll or throw the ball to them.

We ask that you please police yourselves. If somebody is in violation of this code, please let a Chorlton Pickleball Ltd Leader know.

Enjoy the game. No point or game is that critical to ruin your day or lose a friend.

In summary, be a positive minded player. This is YOUR club, support it and strive to make it better.
